Java

Java allows the interactivity you experience on the web. Make sure you have the current version of Java installed on your computer. Click the icon below to download the latest version of Java.

Flash

Flash is required to run some content on the web. If you are using a PC, make sure you have the current version of Flash installed on your computer. Click the icon below to download the latest version of Flash. BEFORE you click install, deselect check marks to free products you don't want. No longer needed after December 2020.

Blackboard Temporarily Unavailable/Clear Internet Cache

A "Blackboard Temporarily Unavailable" page may appear in the Web browser following system maintenance. This issue can be resolved by clearing the Web browser cache. The process will delete temporary Internet files, including the "Blackboard Temporarily Unavailable" page. Instructions for clearing the Web browser cache are available below.

 

For Mozilla Firefox:

1) On the menu bar, open the “Tools” menu and click “Clear Recent History.”

2) Open the “Time range to clear” drop-down menu and select “Everything.”

3) Check the box beside the word “Cache.” The other boxes should be left unchecked.

4) Click the “Clear Now” button.

5) Press the F5 key on the keyboard or click the Refresh button to refresh the Web browser.

 

For Internet Explorer:

1) On the menu bar, open the “Tools” menu and click “Internet Options.”

2) Click the “Delete…” button in the “Browsing history” section.

3) Check the box beside the words “Temporary Internet files.” The other boxes should be left unchecked.

4) Click the “Delete” button.

5) Click the “OK” button.

6) Press the F5 key on the keyboard or click the Refresh button to refresh the Web browser.

 

For Google Chrome:

1) Click the “Customize and control Google Chrome” icon in the upper right hand corner of the Web browser (three horizontal lines).

2) Click "History."

3) Click the "Clear all browsing data..." button.

4) Open the “Obliterate the following items from:” drop-down menu and select “the beginning of time.”

5) Uncheck all of the check boxes except for "Empty the cache."

6) Click the "Clear browsing data" button.

7) Return to the Blackboard login page and refresh the browser.

 

For Apple Safari:

1) On the menu bar, open the Safari drop-down menu and click the “Empty Cache…” option. A pop-up window will appear.

2) Click the “Empty” button.

3) Return to the Blackboard login page and refresh the browser.

SafeAssignment Doesn't Work

If a course containing SafeAssignments is copied from a different course (e.g., a course Template), the course probably need to be synchronized. If the course is not synchronized, the user will be taken to a different page when they click on a link to "View/Complete" a SafeAssignment. Please follow the steps below to synchronize the SafeAssignments:

1) Opened the Control Panel.

2) Clicked the Course Tools tab.

3) Clicked the SafeAssign option.

4) Clicked the SafeAssignments link.

5) Clicked the "Synchronize this Course" button in the upper-right hand corner.
